About the Role: IT Operations Specialist
We are seeking an experienced IT Operations Specialist to join our team, someone who thrives in a high-growth environment and is passionate about contributing ideas to improve efficiency and streamline workflows. As an IT Operations Specialist at Mattermost, you will work closely with our Senior IT Manager to shape and grow the IT function as we continue to scale our workforce. Your primary focus will be on automating and innovating processes, rather than performing repetitive tasks, to improve the team's ability to move quickly and support every team at Mattermost in doing their best work through technology best practices, automation, and the evaluation and implementation of top-tier hardware and software solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ownership of Helpdesk: Manage the service desk tool, transact with users, and continually make recommendations and updates to improve the user experience.
- Onboarding and Offboarding: Contribute to a smooth onboarding and offboarding experience for employees, ensuring that all necessary IT processes are in place.
- Inventory and Asset Management: Manage inventory and help develop the asset management system to ensure accurate tracking and utilization of IT assets.
- IT Policies and Documentation: Contribute to refining and adding to IT policies and documentation to maintain up-to-date and relevant guidelines for the organization.
- Projects and Initiatives: Work on various projects related to increasing productivity, security, and taking IT to the next level, such as implementing an MDM solution, revamping the helpdesk system, and rolling out a new EDR solution.
- Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Collect information, analyze it, and find solutions for hardware and software issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal system performance.
Background and Skills
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- 3+ years of work experience in an IT role in a Mixed OS environment, with a proven track record of managing and supporting IT systems and infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of administering a large SaaS stack, including experience with HRIS, SAML IDP, MDM, EDR solutions, and Google Workspace.
- Familiarity with security best practices, including data protection, access control, and incident response.
- Preferred experience working remotely and as part of a global team, with excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders across different time zones and locations.
Essential Qualifications:
- A strong foundation in IT operations, with experience in helpdesk management, inventory management, and asset management.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of initiative and self-motivation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with IT service management frameworks, such as ITIL.
- Knowledge of scripting languages, such as Python or PowerShell.
- Experience with cloud-based IT services, such as AWS or Azure.
- Certifications in IT operations, such as CompTIA A+ or Cisco CCNA.
