Position Overview

The part-time Lecturer in Finance & Accounting will be responsible for teaching a two-quarter sequence of courses in Finance and Accounting for the Music Industry. The courses are designed to introduce business principles and practices to first- and second-year Music Industry majors. As a Lecturer, you will be expected to communicate complex financial concepts to students with varying levels of quantitative skill.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach a two-quarter sequence of courses in Finance and Accounting for the Music Industry
• Develop and deliver course materials, including lectures, assignments, and assessments
• Provide individual student teaching supervision and support
• Communicate financial principles and techniques to music students not specializing in finance
• Work with students possessing differing levels of quantitative skill
• Participate in departmental meetings and events

Qualifications and Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., finance, accounting, music business)
• Professional experience in finance and accounting (or a related field)
• Strong understanding of finance and accounting principles, including budgeting, financial analysis, and financial reporting
• Excellent communication and teaching skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Graduate degree in Music Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• Relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA)
• Experience in the music industry
• Experience teaching or lecturing at the university level
