Job Summary
The Disney Resort and Park Operations Leader will lead a global operational and technical team, including union and non-union positions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving live field production, with a demonstrated ability to lead in a dynamic and global team environment. This role requires strong leadership skills, a consultative mindset, and the ability to work effectively with exceptional regional responsibilities of our ABC News teams and departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the strategic direction for the field teams to meet the unique requirements of the shows and platforms within the ABC News portfolio
- Promote an inclusive and collaborative work environment and be a culture change agent
- Manage and prioritize capital budgets for all field and official operations
- Lead the research, testing, and development of field technologies for use in live news and planned events
- Manage talent across different geographic regions
- Anticipate the needs of a breaking news operation and implement innovative, timely solutions
- 24/7 availability to respond to breaking news anywhere in the world
- Occasional travel based on business and production needs
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- At least 10 years of industry experience in live news production, field and remote production, and management of a large team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and experience with communicating with technical and non-technical management
- Ability to plan around the 24/7 patterns of media reporting
- Capacity to manage teams across time zones
- Strong industry contacts across media/production technology/systems, vendors, and industry associations
- Experience working with Labor Relations, HR, and Finance colleagues on complex matters
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Experience in the full field remote technology and operations workflows, including transmission, audio/video signal flow, radio, IP-based production systems, and overt redundancy
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to spontaneous requests and events
- Knowledge of the U.S. network pool in Washington, DC
- Ability to formulate and present technical strategies to various audiences, including ABC platforms, executives, partners, and staff
