Job Overview
We are seeking highly motivated and experienced Academic Coaches and Tutors to join our collaborative team. As an Academic Coach and Tutor, you will play a vital role in providing academic support to our students, both in-person and online. Key Responsibilities
- Provide academic tutoring in person and/or online for selected courses, ensuring a thorough understanding of homework, reading, and essay assignments, as well as projects.
- Prepare and conduct weekly tutoring sessions for selected courses, adapting your approach to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Meet with the coordinator as necessary to discuss student progress, address challenges, and explore opportunities for growth.
- Conduct outreach to students on provide alerts lists as necessary, ensuring that they are aware of the resources available to support their academic success.
- Enter appointments, summaries, and availability in Navigate and Brainfuse as necessary, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Attend tutor/coach trainings and meetings, staying current with best practices and emerging trends in academic support.
- Participate in/conduct campus events to promote the Academic Coaching and Tutoring (ACT) program, raising awareness about the importance of academic support and the resources available to students.
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must possess a strong foundation in basic academic skills and the ability to demonstrate the successful application of various academic skills. You should also have:
- Demonstrated competence in academic courses, as determined by course grade and references.
- Good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Characteristics of responsibility, desire to help others, discretion, and flexibility, with a strong commitment to supporting student success.
- Ability to work independently, applying critical thinking skills and problem-solving to various situations.
- Ability to work with college students of diverse backgrounds, providing culturally responsive support and guidance.
- Demonstrated competence in using basic computer software, such as Microsoft Office, as well as internet browsers.
- Knowledge of D2L, Navigate, and/or WebAdvisor is a plus, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications

- A degree in a relevant field, such as education, psychology, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience working as an academic coach or tutor, with a proven track record of supporting student success.

- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, with a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with supporting underrepresented groups.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
