About the Role
The Open Connect SRE Platform team is responsible for designing, implementing, and operating the infrastructure that enables Netflix's global content delivery. As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you'll lead, empower, and mentor a team of engineers to drive success in this critical area. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, including Network Engineering, Hardware Engineering, and Development, to establish strong partnerships and drive decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply your strong understanding of SRE principles and practices to drive the design, implementation, and operation of our CDN Platform and infrastructure.
- Lead, empower, and mentor a team of engineers by providing clear context and continuous feedback, and driving their growth and development.
- Guide a team with a mix of systems and software engineering skills to execute tasks focused on scalability, reliability, and availability.
- Collaborate closely with the broader Open Connect organization to form strong cross-functional partnerships and drive direction and decision-making.
- Establish a track record of resolving issues in live production environments and implementing strategies to mitigate them.
- Deliver timely execution on complex tasks with high quality, and drive continuous improvement in our processes and systems.
Qualifications and Requirements
To succeed in this role, you'll need a strong background in SRE principles and practices, as well as experience leading high-performing teams. Here are the essential qualifications and requirements:
Essential Qualifications
- Proven experience building and leading high-performance SRE teams.
- Strong understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems basics.
- Robust knowledge of networking technologies, including routing, BGP, and protocols.
- Proficiency in a programming language, such as Python or Go.
- Experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems at scale.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and drive direction and decision-making.
- Experience working with geographically distributed teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- A proactive approach to giving and receiving feedback, with a growth mindset and a willingness to initiate tough conversations.
- The ability to disambiguate complex issues in a fast-paced environment, and drive clear action plans for your team.
