Staff Accountant Role: Key Responsibilities and Requirements
As a Staff Accountant at Milestone, you'll play a critical role in delivering high-quality outsourced accounting services to our clients. This is a remote position with occasional travel to our Indianapolis headquarters, and we're looking for candidates who are within a reasonable driving distance of the area.
Responsibilities:
- Process Accounts Receivable / Accounts Payable transactions for our clients, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts on a monthly basis, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
- Prepare recurring journal entries, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Work closely with clients to provide updates, answer questions, and address concerns, escalating to a Controller when necessary.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting: A strong foundation in accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
- Minimum 2 Years of Related Experience: Proven experience in accounting, with a focus on Accounts Receivable / Accounts Payable, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Advanced Knowledge of QBO and Cloud-Based Accounting Software: Experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) and other cloud-based accounting tools, such as Bill.com, Tallie, and Gusto.
- Tech Savvy: A passion for technology and the ability to quickly learn new software and systems.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients and team members.
- Organized and Detail-Oriented: A strong emphasis on attention to detail, with a commitment to delivering high-quality work and creating an exceptional client experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with other cloud-based accounting software and tools.
- Knowledge of accounting regulations and standards, such as GAAP.
- Previous experience in a public accounting firm or industry.
