About the Role
The Special Education Instructor will be responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering rigorous and engaging instructional experiences for students with exceptionalities. This is a unique opportunity to work with a diverse group of students and make a meaningful difference in their lives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to draft compliant Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and provide instructional experiences for students with exceptionalities, focusing on academics, communication, vocational, motor, self-help, and social subject matter
- Track student progress, reflect on instructional practices, and make adjustments to ensure student academic growth
- Develop and implement compliant IEPs that cater to the unique needs of each student
- Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and support staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment
- Travel to provide instruction to other sites as needed, ensuring that students receive consistent and high-quality support
- Stay up-to-date with best practices in special education, attending professional development opportunities and workshops to enhance instructional skills
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this role, you will need to have:
- Special education certification with previous experience working with individuals with disabilities
- Familiarity with the Special Education Reporting System, JCampus, and the ability to draft compliant IEPs
- Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain accurate records
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, colleagues, and families
- The ability to travel to provide instruction to other sites as needed, with a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with students with severe disabilities, including autism, intellectual disabilities, and physical disabilities
- Knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices, such as positive behavioral supports and assistive technology
- Experience with data-driven instruction, including progress monitoring and data analysis
- Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate with students and families from diverse linguistic backgrounds
