Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Nursing Education and Simulation Specialist to join our team in San Antonio, TX. As a key member of our academic team, you will play a vital role in shaping the next generation of nursing students by advocating for their success. This position is ideal for nurses who want to gain higher education and academic experience, with the possibility of transitioning into a faculty role in the future. You will collaborate with academic partners, faculty, and staff to provide strategies and academic reinforcement to students throughout their academic program, preparing them for success with the NCLEX-RN exam.

Key Responsibilities

• Support instruction, remediation, and evaluation in didactic and clinical learning concepts, including patient care simulations
• Demonstrate current, detailed, and accurate knowledge of concepts tested by the NCLEX-RN, as well as currency in nursing practice
• Assess learning styles, identify strengths, and discover opportunities for academic development in students
• Create and implement personalized remediation plans for students to prepare them for academic and professional success
• Support all clinical learning lab and simulated patient care learning experiences for students
• Communicate and document students' academic and co-curricular progress toward achievement of student and program learning outcomes
• Prepare and maintain labs and simulated patient care environments with equipment, supplies, media, computers, and materials needed to replicate a simulated healthcare setting
• Collaborate with course coordinators and faculty to ensure preparation of lab supplies and equipment based on faculty requests and course schedules
• Assist in developing and implementing detailed clinically-based scenarios for simulated learning experiences, including use of high-fidelity patient simulators
• Operate and maintain computerized and non-computerized simulation equipment
• Contribute to and attend national academic and clinical learning conferences
• Coordinate and supervise lab experiences to ensure that students have the opportunity to meet course objectives
• Provide individual oversight to students during practice and/or remediation of technical nursing skills as requested by course coordinators

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
• Master's Degree in Education or Nursing preferred
• 1 year of experience in an academic environment supporting classroom instruction or specialized tutoring support preferred
• Excellent communication skills with proven ability to communicate via telephone, computer, and in person
• Unencumbered RN license required
• BLS CPR certification required
• BLS CPR instructor certification required
• ACLS and/or PALS certification preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in simulation-based education
• Knowledge of adult learning theory and curriculum development
• Experience with educational technology and simulation equipment
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment

We offer a competitive compensation package, with a salary range of $47,766 to $86,253 per year.
