Job Overview
In this role, you will be responsible for scaling network frameworks to enable us to stay ahead of customer demand. You will work in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of our cutting-edge services and aid in the development of innovative ways to automate and scale our network. Your key responsibilities will include scaling support for multiple data center locations, providing daily support for capacity management, and working closely with internal clients and external vendors to facilitate smooth project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Clearly convey project status and blockers to leadership and project management
- Perform device build and cabling validation activities
- Manage cabling vendor activities and perform quality assurance activities
- Facilitate group design and deployment activities during scheduled change management windows
- Participate in the relocation (possibly off business hours), initial configuration, and rollout of new or upgraded hardware
- Complete customer requests via Cure trouble ticketing system
- Collaborate with different stakeholders to eliminate project obstacles
- Investigate networking, routing, and interconnectivity issues, including troubleshooting of network device configuration and low-level application communication
- Deliver critical, practical, and repeatable solutions and processes
- Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflow
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong foundation in networking and a proven track record of delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment. The essential qualifications for this role include:
- Current, active US Government Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance with Polygraph
- 3+ years of relevant experience as a specialist or engineer in a highly dynamic environment; OR a equivalent combination of higher education and tech-related experience
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- TCP/IP networking knowledge
- Broad understanding of infrastructure technologies
- Experience with cabling system best practices and standards
- Experience with common networking terms
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- BS in Information Systems or Computer Science, as well as certifications to include CCNA or JNCIA, and/or BICSI Level II or higher
- Understanding of infrastructure technologies, including Switches, Routers, Load Balancers, and Firewalls
- Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment, such as VFL, power meter, and OTDR
- Experience with small to medium, complex project scopes and ambiguous details within the workplace
- General understanding of the different components and sub-components of data center infrastructure
