Join Our Team as a Medical Transcriptionist - Pathology Specialist
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Medical Transcriptionist - Pathology Specialist to join our Laboratory Department on a full-time basis, working day shifts. As a Medical Transcriptionist - Pathology Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of pathology reports, working closely with our Clinical Lab Director and other healthcare professionals. Responsibilities
- Accurately transcribe pathology dictation using electronic dictation equipment, ensuring correct spelling of medical terms and other words, and utilizing accurate punctuation and grammar.
- Maintain equipment and supplies properly, ensuring seamless operations and minimizing downtime.
- Accurately transcribe patient identification and physical identification onto all reports, adhering to strict confidentiality and data protection protocols.
- Demonstrate an ability to organize and achieve quality performance in new routines, procedures, and skills, adapting to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Communicate effectively and express ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing, to ensure seamless collaboration with healthcare professionals.
- Give attention to details, maintaining accurate records and documentation, and adhering to regulatory requirements and hospital policies.
- Mailing appropriate reports to physician's offices, ensuring timely and secure delivery.
- Maintain work in a clear and organized manner, adhering to hospital standards and best practices.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A minimum of one year of experience in an accredited hospital clinical laboratory setting as a transcriptionist, preferably in a pathology department.
- Excellent transcription skills, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in electronic dictation equipment and software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Basic computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
Preferred Qualifications
We welcome applications from candidates with:
- Experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting, preferably in a pathology department.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Certification in medical transcription, such as RMT (Registered Medical Transcriptionist) or CMT (Certified Medical Transcriptionist).
