About This Role
This Senior Engineer position is part of the Engineering Group within the Coordinated Operations Division at American Airlines. As a Senior Engineer, you'll be responsible for providing engineering support for the maintenance and operation of aircraft and related equipment. You'll also establish and maintain aircraft and part standards within areas of responsibility. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct training for specialists in areas of expertise
- Serve as a guide to other engineers and act as a team leader/facilitator over project management or issue resolution
- Coordinate with manufacturers and regulatory specialists to ensure that engineering practices are properly validated according to relevant guidelines and company manuals
- Develop customized procedures and special instructions for repairs, modifications, inspections, and other maintenance activities
- Stay informed about daily carrier operations and review daily needs according to aircraft/departmental targets and management mandates
- Investigate aircraft/part issues that may cause delays or cancellations and determine appropriate corrective actions
- Provide engineering support to resolve discrepant conditions affecting aircraft or parts and restore workable status
- Respond to requests from Maintenance and other carrier divisions when technical support is needed to facilitate operations or resolve issues
- Develop action plans for fleet/multi-fleet and/or part engineering projects and pursue definite attitudes according to evaluated needs
- Coordinate with other aircraft divisions to facilitate effective and efficient execution of engineering practices
- Prepare engineering documents to implement technical practices by providing customized procedures for repairs, modifications, inspections, or other maintenance activities
- Maintain knowledge of current and forthcoming regulations that impact areas of responsibility and ensure that all engineering activities comply with relevant regulatory requirements
- Utilize available resources to increase levels of technical expertise and practical experience regularly
- Actively engage with frontline colleagues and management alike
Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role, you'll need to meet the following qualifications and requirements:
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field or related Engineering license
- A&P license
- 1 year of engineering experience in a related field (or 2 years of experience without a degree)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Ability to analyze technical data and make informed decisions
- Demonstrated fitness, capacity, and willingness to take on new roles and responsibilities
- Ability to prepare and deliver presentations that promote acceptance of solutions
- Ability to connect with internal and external customers effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a related engineering field
- Strong understanding of aircraft maintenance and engineering practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
