Job Overview
As a Quality Control Standards Data Analyst Intern at Southwest Airlines, you will play a crucial role in driving a culture of safety, efficiency, and innovation within the Quality Control department. This internship is designed to provide you with hands-on experience in data analysis, interpretation, and visualization, as well as exposure to the airline industry and its operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform timely data collection, validation, and root cause analysis on data elements to support the Quality Control team.
- Assist in developing and communicating complex data insights and analysis to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Respond to ad-hoc queries and provide analytical support to Senior Leadership, enabling informed business decisions.
- Present findings, trends, and recommendations using data visualization tools to facilitate understanding and drive business outcomes.
- Develop and disseminate queries to extract and organize data from various sources, ensuring data accuracy and relevance.
- Identify process anomalies through audits and surveys, and communicate findings to the team.
- Evaluate process effectiveness by monitoring trends and anomalies, and ensure a compliance mindset is at the forefront of every decision.
- Perform other work-related tasks as directed by the Team Lead.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as data science, statistics, or business administration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze large datasets.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Alteryx, or QuickBase.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
