The 988 NSPL is a 24/7/365 service that provides a safe and confidential platform for individuals to reach out for support. As a Remote 988 Chat and Text Crisis Specialist, you will be an integral part of this lifeline, providing brief clinical screenings, risk assessments, and service linkage to individuals in need.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide telephonic or chat clinical screenings and risk assessments to individuals in crisis, ensuring timely and effective support.
• Respond to crisis contacts via the chat/text platform, assessing for suicide risk, safety, and identifying appropriate community resources to meet individual needs.
• Conduct follow-up calls for individuals deemed moderate to high risk for suicide, ensuring continued support and safety.
• Maintain ethical and clinical standards in compliance with all accreditation requirements, upholding the highest level of care.
• Participate actively in ongoing supervision, training, and team meetings to enhance skills and stay updated on best practices.
• Assist with administrative tasks as needed, contributing to the smooth operation of the crisis team.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, you will need:

• A Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field, or be a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist.
• Preferred six months to one year of related crisis experience, demonstrating a background in handling crisis situations effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey empathy and understanding in a virtual environment.
• High-level customer service skills and professional etiquette, ensuring a positive and supportive interaction with individuals in crisis.
• Knowledge and competency in providing service linkage and referrals for programs, services, and other community resources, facilitating access to necessary support.
• Understanding of suicide assessments and crisis intervention techniques, enabling effective risk assessment and support.
