The Library Shelver role requires:
The Library Shelver will work in a dynamic and fast-paced library environment, with frequent interactions with library staff, patrons, and the general public. The role requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on providing excellent customer service and maintaining a clean and organized library environment.
The Library Shelver will work under the supervision of the Circulation and Assistant Circulation Manager, with guidance provided through the City Code, departmental policies, City operating practices and procedures, and other resources as applicable to specific projects assigned. Work performance will be reviewed through observation, completion of projects, status reports, conferences, and meetings.
The Library Shelver will have regular and frequent contact with the general public, providing directional assistance, answering questions, and responding to customer inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
The selection method for this role will involve a structured oral interview, with candidates being assessed on their knowledge, skills, and abilities related to the position. The eligibility list will be categorized by group, with the life of the eligibility list determined by the City of Evanston.
