Job Summary
As the UX Director of Design Operations, you'll oversee a team of design program managers responsible for organizing and developing the people, processes, and practices necessary to scale UX across the Target enterprise. You'll leverage your leadership and design program management expertise to establish and evolve best practices for our UX team, focusing on how we collaborate, complete work, and drive impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership, Team Development, and Growth: Mentor, coach, and guide a team of people leaders and individual contributors, helping them develop new skills, build trust, and increase transparency and engagement.
- Business Value and Design Impact: Use data to articulate your reasoning, communicate clearly, and drive design decisions with stakeholders and leaders at various levels. Balance drive and patience throughout the design journey.
- Building Strong Relationships and Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Foster trust and proactively collaborate with UX, Product, Tech, and Business stakeholders to achieve exceptional results. Be curious, ask questions, and strive for clarity.
Essential Qualifications
- Experience in Design Program Management and Design Operations with in-house or agency product design teams.
- Proven leadership skills with experience in hiring, leading, and training high-performing, cross-geography or remote teams.
- Experience working in complex, matrixed, global organizations.
- Ability to proactively identify and resolve issues that might hinder the team from meeting key business or financial objectives.
- Strong data-driven visual, verbal, and written storytelling skills with the ability to bring stakeholders along.
Preferred Qualifications
- History of using a strategic approach to tackle complex problems and strong facilitation skills to engage stakeholders.
- Solid relational skills, articulating the impact and supporting decisions with ease, logic, and data.
- Comfort working with various levels of leadership to define the roadmap and prioritization for key projects and initiatives.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment in Minneapolis or remotely on Central Standard or Eastern Standard time.
