Tasks and Responsibilities
- Counsel patients and answer their questions regarding medication use, side effects, interactions, contraindications, patient data security, generics, and over-the-counter products, referring to clinical providers as needed.
- Perform pharmacist tasks, including compounding, medication therapy reviews, verification, and medication management.
- Review, interpret, and accurately administer prescribed medications when required by responsibility.
- Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations, company policies, and standards, assisting the pharmacy manager in establishing procedures that promote efficient workflow.
- Maintain current knowledge of information technology related to pharmacy systems, including workflow, prescription fulfillment, billing, clinical documentation, training, inventory management, and retail point-of-sale registers.
- Ensure the accurate processing of insurance claims to resolve patient issues and prevent payment rejections, following up with insurance companies and clinical providers as needed.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Pharmacist Degree from an accredited educational institution.
- Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the region.
- Experience performing prescription dispensing activities that demonstrate a strong understanding of relevant state and federal controlled substance regulations.
- Certified Immunizer or able to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience as a pharmacist in a retail setting, including prescription filling and verification, records and legal compliance, pharmacy operations, pharmacy software and technology systems, and insurance.
