Job Overview
In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer support to our clients at the ticket counter, baggage service office, and gate area. As a Customer Support Representative, you will be the face of Southwest Airlines, setting a friendly tone for our customers' travel experience. Your duties will include handling customer inquiries, resolving issues, and providing assistance with ticketing, baggage, and other travel-related services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer friendly assistance to and maintain positive relationships with all internal and external customers
- Work in a collaborative spirit to ensure the success of our organization
- Provide amazing customer support to individuals seeking to travel, use cargo or baggage services by addressing their needs
- Handle all aspects of ticketing and check-in by operating an automated retail system, boarding, baggage services, reservations, and resolving related complaints and issues
- Greet and interact with customers in a courteous and friendly manner
- Handle cash, checks, credit cards, travel vouchers, and coupons as forms of payment for tickets
- Calculate charges, make change, and balance daily transactions
- Check in baggage and cargo
- Answer phone calls to provide information to guests, page customers, resolve issues or complaints, and assist on a case-by-case basis
- Handle transactions necessary to board the aircraft in a timely and efficient manner
- Manage upset customers due to oversells, delayed or canceled flights, lost, delayed, or damaged baggage
- Resolve such issues promptly and within guidelines established by the organization
- Provide current and accurate fare, schedule, reservations, flight arrival/departure information, and answer general questions from customers and other airport visitors
- Complete forms and reports as required by the organization
- Prepare anomaly and complaint reports as necessary
Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Ability to type and use a computer keyboard with adequate speed to meet the needs of the job
- Ability to read documents, follow instructions, learn and understand ticketing procedures, rules, and regulations
- Ability to work collaboratively with others as part of a team, meet the public, and work under stressful conditions
- Ability to complete Customer Support Specialist training program with an 80% or higher average and a probationary period
- Awareness of hazardous situations and ability to handle emergencies on a case-by-case basis
- Ability to work under close time constraints to achieve rapid turns of aircraft
- Ability to present a well-groomed appearance in accordance with the Ground Operations Agent Handbook and Work Agreement
- Ability to perform all job functions within a limited space
- Ability to communicate verbally by phone, in person, and on public address systems
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in customer service or a related field
- Knowledge of airline operations and procedures
- Ability to speak multiple languages
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
