Job Summary
We are seeking a mid-level to senior-level Transmission Planning Engineer with a strong background in system impact studies, power system analysis, and transmission planning. As a key member of our team, you will lead network studies, develop computer-based models, and conduct various power system studies to ensure the reliability and efficiency of our clients' transmission systems. You will also engage in proposal writing, customer interactions, and project leadership, mentoring, and coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead network studies for utilities and ISOs, including feasibility, system impact, reactive compensation, stability, planning, short circuit, load flow, interconnection, and power factor correction studies.
- Interface with engineers to prepare computer-based models and conduct power system studies using PSS/E and other software tools.
- Develop and maintain transmission planning models, including data collection, model development, and study execution.
- Engage in proposal writing and customer interactions to develop new opportunities and build strong relationships with clients.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and support to help them grow professionally.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and effective project delivery.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices, applying this knowledge to improve our services and solutions.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in transmission planning system studies, with a strong focus on system impact studies.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- 3+ years of experience with PSS/E, with expertise in power system analysis and modeling.
- Familiarity with the Texas ERCOT interconnection processes.
- Willingness to travel up to 10%.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) or Ph.D.
- 5+ years of experience with PSS/E, PSLF, TARA, PSCAD, Aspen Oneliner, ETAP, or Power World.
- 7-10 years of experience in transmission planning studies.
- PE registration or equivalent.
- Coding and automation skills.
