Job Summary
We're seeking an experienced full stack software engineer to join our Android group as a Lead Software Engineer. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality applications for Disney+ and Star+ across a wide range of devices, including phones, tablets, and televisions. You'll work closely with our team to identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions that drive business results.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver high-quality applications for Disney+ and Star+ using Kotlin, Java, and Android SDK
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions that drive business results
- Lead whole projects from start to finish, including delivery cycle, remote setup management, and live creation issues
- Develop and maintain high-quality code, including unit tests, automated tests, modern libraries, and a Kotlin codebase
- Work closely with the team to identify and address technical issues, and provide guidance and support as needed
- Develop and maintain documentation, including code comments, API documentation, and technical guides
- Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to improve code quality and best practices
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and apply this knowledge to improve our applications and processes
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
- 5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on Android development
- Strong knowledge of Kotlin, Java, and Android SDK
- Experience with reactive programming and dependency injection
- Knowledge of various architectural patterns (MVI/MVVM or similar)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams
- Experience with version control systems, such as Git
- Experience with build tools, such as Gradle
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Android TV/Amazon Fire TV development
- Knowledge of web-based video, codecs, and DRM
- Experience with execution assessment tools, such as Android Profiler
- Experience with modern Android libraries, such as Blade 2/Handle, RxJava2, Groupie
- Experience with modularized codebases and large-scale applications
Skills and Competencies
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams
- Strong knowledge of software development principles, including design patterns, testing, and code quality
- Experience with Agile development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban
- Strong understanding of cloud computing and web services, including APIs and microservices
