Job Summary
We're seeking an experienced Full Stack Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a key member of our pharmacy staff, you'll play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care, interacting with customers, and developing strong relationships with our patients. Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in the exercise of pharmacy, under direct supervision, in accordance with national, federal, and agency policy.
- Use pharmacy systems to retrieve patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and manage inventory.
- Model and provide a unique and delightful customer experience, engaging with customers and patients to resolve issues and answer inquiries.
- Develop strong relationships with valuable customers, adhering to Walgreens' service standards and best practices.
- Perform duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Personnel Pharmacist, and Store Supervisor, including utilizing pharmacy systems, filling prescriptions, and verifying medication accuracy.
- Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and the quality improvement program.
- Responsible for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collecting and handling coins as required, and taking customers to the OTC aisle to assist in finding merchandise.
- Handle telephone calls that don't require the personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians, and method (correct and resubmit) claims for third-party prescription services in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assist and support the Pharmacy Department on stock management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of prescription drugs.
- May assist pharmacists in administering medical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other medical services as required.
- Assist Pharmacy Supervisor and Personnel Pharmacist in developing and maintaining strong relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers.
- Assist with outdoor and indoor maintenance by ensuring the pharmacy department is stocked with sufficient supplies, clean, neat, and orderly in appearance.
- Comply with all company guidelines and procedures, maintaining respectful relationships with coworkers.
- Complete unique assignments and other responsibilities as assigned.
Education & Personal Development
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the unique PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration.
- Attend training and complete PPLs asked by the manager and acquire continuing education credits.
- Maintain expertise and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest information and developments.
- Through completion of the Walgreens pharmacy technician apprenticeship program, experience qualifies for 8 (8) college credit hours as recognized by the American Council on Education (ACE).
Basic Qualifications
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
Preferred Qualifications
- Choose six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Choose to have previous work experience with Walgreens.
- Desirable math skills to fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring, and weighing medicines.
- Desirable computer skills.
- Knowledge of store inventory management.
- Prefer PTCB certification.
