The Role
As a Data Engineer within our Data Science & Analytics team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the customer experience by developing and maintaining reliable, scalable data pipelines. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, software engineers, and business owners, to transform raw data into actionable business metrics. Your work will have a direct impact on our ability to resolve customer issues efficiently and effectively, ultimately enhancing the overall streaming experience for our members.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain large-scale data pipelines using big data technologies such as Hive, Presto, Spark, and Flink, handling medium to large-scale data sets (10s of millions of records)
- Develop and implement data models that are adaptable to changes in source data or business processes, ensuring data quality and integrity
- Write clean, supportable code in Python or Scala, with a strong focus on data quality and advocacy for best practices
- Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and business leaders to develop and prioritize business metrics, ensuring alignment with customer service goals and objectives
- Work with custom visualization tools to surface customer service insights, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- At least 4 years of experience engineering data pipelines using big data technologies, with a strong understanding of data modeling and data quality principles
- Advanced SQL skills and proficiency in Python or Scala, with a passion for writing clean, supportable code
- Strong analytical aptitude, with the ability to think through complex business problems and prioritize autonomously
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams, including analysts, engineers, and business leaders
