Position Overview
As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on teaching experience on your own schedule. We offer the highest pay rates among substitute providers, with up to $190 for day-to-day assignments and more for long-term assignments. You will be supported by our team of experienced consultants who will help you develop your skills, provide you with feedback, and match you with assignments that fit your preferences and needs. Key Responsibilities
- Teach a variety of subjects, including math, science, English, and social studies, to students of different ages and skill levels
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the needs of your students
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff to ensure that students receive the support they need
- Be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to think on your feet and adjust to changing circumstances
- Collaborate with other teachers and school staff to develop and implement school-wide initiatives and programs
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching skills and stay up-to-date with best practices in education
Essential Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
- Three professional references, with at least one from a previous direct supervisor
- NJ Substitute Credential
- Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this!)
- Full COVID-19 vaccination
- A passion for education and putting students first

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous teaching experience, particularly in a substitute teaching role
- Experience working with students of different ages and skill levels, including those with special needs
- Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching practices and classroom management strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and school staff
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high degree of flexibility and adaptability
