About the Eastern IL Ag Retail Tuition Reimbursement Program
We are excited to offer the Eastern IL Ag Retail Tuition Reimbursement Program, designed for students currently enrolled in a 2-year program with a passion for agriculture and interest in becoming a Custom Applicator or Operator with our Eastern Illinois Division. This program is available to students living within a 30-mile radius of our Eastern Illinois Division and is intended to provide a pathway to full-time employment with Nutrien Ag Solutions upon completion of their 2-year program.
Key Responsibilities
- Be currently enrolled in a 2-year program with interest in becoming a Custom Applicator or Operator with Nutrien Ag Solutions Eastern Illinois Division
- Successfully complete required coursework each semester
- Complete an on-the-job paid internship for a minimum of 10 weeks during Summer and/or 4 weeks part-time during Winter Break with satisfactory performance
- Shadow current Retail location employees to gain hands-on experience and understanding of our operations
- Assist in loading/mixing/applying pesticides, gaining understanding of the importance of including proper adjuvants, mixing order, temperature, and other field/weather conditions potentially influencing application
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the team and contribute to the success of our Eastern Illinois Division
Essential Qualifications
- Current enrollment in one of the eligible 2-year programs, including Applicator Technician, Ag Retail Operations, Agriculture, Precision Agronomy, Ag Production Management, and other related programs
- Passion for Agriculture and interest in growing your career with the Eastern Illinois Division
- Full-time enrollment in an eligible program at an accredited post-secondary institution, such as Parkland College, Lake Land College, Heartland Community College, Joliet Junior College, Danville Area Community College, Illinois Valley Community College, and Lincoln Land Community College
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in agriculture or a related field, either through internships, volunteer work, or part-time jobs
- Strong understanding of agricultural principles, practices, and technologies
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities
Skills and Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to safety, inclusion, and integrity
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications, with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies
