Position Overview
The Adult Education ESL Teacher will provide high‑quality English language instruction to registered adult learners through APS’s Adult Education Department. The role is grant‑funded and will span 34 weeks per academic year, delivering 10‑20 hours of instruction each week at $30 per hour. Classes are scheduled in the evening to accommodate working adults, and instruction may occur at multiple district locations or virtually, depending on community needs.

- Record Keeping: Maintain precise records of attendance, assessment scores, lesson plans, and any required reporting for grant compliance.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with fellow adult education faculty, the Academic Director, and the Adult Education Supervisor to ensure cohesive program delivery and share best practices.

Essential Qualifications
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- State Certification: Valid Michigan teaching certification, preferably with an ESL endorsement.

- Experience: Minimum of 1 year teaching English as a Second Language, preferably to adult learners.
- Communication Skills: Ability to convey complex concepts clearly, both orally and in writing, to diverse adult audiences.
- Technological Proficiency: Comfortable using digital learning platforms (e.g., Google Classroom, Zoom, Microsoft Teams) and basic educational software for assessments and record keeping.
