The Role: Shaping the Future of Visual Effects
We're on the hunt for a seasoned Senior Visual Effects Supervisor with a proven track record in managing both internal and third-party co-productions across Netflix original movies. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the VFX industry, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for delivering exceptional results. This role is pivotal in curating vendor and VFX crew talent, evaluating and budgeting scripts, and providing creative insights that elevate the Netflix VFX pipeline.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the VFX process on assigned movie projects, working closely with production teams, Studio Creative Executives, and Finance during development and pre-production.
- Develop VFX breakdowns and budgets, and provide strategic guidance on VFX scope and feasibility.
- Build and manage high-performing visual effects teams, including recruiting supervisors, producers, and vendors, and negotiating contracts.
- Track VFX delivery progress and cost file management, ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget.
- Collaborate with the VFX manager and VFX producer to review VFX media and ensure high-quality output.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in VFX production workflows, including 4K pipelines and tax incentives.
- Assist in crafting and implementing strategic projects and department workflows aligned with the Director, VFX.
Essential Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in managerial roles such as VFX producer, post producer, VFX executive producer, or VFX supervisor, with a proven ability to multitask and manage multiple projects.
- A passion for visual effects and the technology that drives this field.
- Experience in gathering and negotiating vendor bids, and budgeting for visual effects.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to steer without authority.
- Understanding of current trends in VFX production workflows.
- A team player with a flexible and proactive approach, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
- A track record of fostering and maintaining strong relationships with filmmakers, VFX supervisors, producers, and key vendors.
- Knowledge of tax incentives and rebates.
- A self-motivated individual with a continuous desire to learn and grow.
