Job Description:
• Develop and execute a comprehensive pharmacy strategy aligned with company objectives, regulatory requirements, and market dynamics
• Partner with executive leadership on long-term strategies for affordability, risk management, and competitive differentiation in pharmacy benefit design
• Serve as a thought leader on emerging trends in pharmacy (e.g., biosimilars, gene therapies, specialty drug management, value-based contracting)
• Oversee all aspects of pharmacy operations, including formulary development, utilization management, and clinical pharmacy programs
• Lead relationships with PBMs, specialty pharmacies, and other strategic vendors, ensuring strong performance, compliance, and financial accountability
• Ensure pharmacy programs are member-centered, clinically sound, cost-effective, and operationally efficient
• Drive strategies to manage drug trends and medical/pharmacy integration, balancing affordability with access and quality of care
• Partner with Actuarial, Finance, and Product teams to forecast pharmacy spend and inform pricing, product design, and value-based initiatives
• Oversee development of innovative contracting models with pharmaceutical manufacturers, including outcomes-based agreements
• Maintain oversight of pharmacy reporting, audits, and risk management processes
• Build and lead a high-performing pharmacy team across clinical, operational, and strategic functions
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability
Requirements:
• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in pharmacy benefit management, health plan pharmacy operations, or related healthcare environment
• Deep knowledge of PBM relationships, formulary management, specialty pharmacy, and medical-pharmacy integration
• Proven ability to design and execute strategies that deliver both clinical and financial outcomes
• Strong executive presence, with the ability to influence boards, regulators, and industry stakeholders
• Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of building and scaling high-performing teams
• Advanced degree in Pharmacy (PharmD or equivalent); active pharmacist license strongly preferred
• Experience overseeing pharmacy operations, formulary development, utilization management, and clinical pharmacy programs
• Experience leading relationships with PBMs, specialty pharmacies, and other strategic vendors
• Experience with forecasting pharmacy spend, partnering with Actuarial/Finance/Product teams
• Experience with innovative contracting models, including outcomes-based agreements
• Previous experience at a high growth company (extra credit)
