The Opportunity: Senior Chip Design Engineer
As a Senior Chip Design Engineer at Apple, you will be a key contributor to the entire chip design lifecycle, from initial concept and specification through to tape-out and beyond. You will leverage your deep technical expertise and leadership skills to drive the successful development of high-performance, power-efficient, and reliable chips that power Apple's iconic products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including architecture, verification, and manufacturing, to ensure the successful delivery of world-class products.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and execute complete chip design flows, encompassing all stages from initial specification and floorplanning to detailed layout, physical verification, and tape-out.
• Expert in RTL design and verification, including experience with hardware description languages (e.g., Verilog, VHDL) and various verification methodologies.
• Proficient in Logic Synthesis and Place & Route (P&R), with a strong understanding of floorplanning, clock and power distribution, timing analysis, and physical and electrical verification.
• Experience with Advanced Node process technologies (e.g., FinFET, N5P) and associated design challenges.
• Strong understanding of industry-standard design tools and methodologies, including Cadence, Synopsys, and Mentor Graphics.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to define chip specifications, address design challenges, and ensure successful project delivery.
• Drive improvements to design processes and methodologies, contributing to increased efficiency and quality.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
• Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks throughout the chip design lifecycle.
• Stay abreast of the latest technological advancements in chip design and related fields.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5+ years of relevant industry experience in chip design.
• Proven ability to lead and manage complex chip design projects.
• Expert knowledge of RTL design, verification, and synthesis methodologies.
• Strong understanding of digital logic design principles and computer architecture.
• Experience with floorplanning, clock and power distribution, timing analysis, and physical verification.
• Familiarity with industry-standard design tools (Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor Graphics).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with advanced process technologies (e.g., FinFET, N5P).
• Experience with low-power design techniques.
• Experience with security-focused chip design.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
