We are seeking a skilled and experienced Medical Transcriptionist to join our team in a remote capacity. As a Medical Transcriptionist, you will play a critical role in transcribing medico-legal dictation from Medical Examiners, Pathologists, and Pathology Residents with accuracy and timeliness. Key Responsibilities:
- Transcribe and type medico-legal autopsy and external medical reports from recorded dictation with high accuracy and attention to detail
- Ensure correct spelling of medical terms, punctuation, and grammar in transcribed reports
- Make report corrections as required and requested by physicians
- Print and distribute transcribed documents for review and approval
- Sort and file reports and other case file information in a timely and organized manner
- Provide general clerical support to the Records Section and Administration as needed
- Maintain a log of all transcribed dictation and related activities, submitting logs on a weekly basis to supervisor
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Ability to type 60 words per minute with high accuracy
- Thorough knowledge of medical terminology and good knowledge of spelling and grammar
- Skilled in the use of personal computers and standard office equipment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work cooperatively with peers and senior staff
- Ability to establish work priorities and work with limited supervision
- Ability to keep accurate records and maintain confidentiality
- Knowledge of chemical and biological safe handling procedures
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited high school/GED program
- Two (2) years of clerical work-related experience, plus one year experience in a clerical medical environment or 30 hours of college or a combination of the two
