Position Overview – Industrial Engineer III, Warehouse Design (Remote)
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Industrial Engineer III with deep expertise in warehouse design, material handling, and automation. In this pivotal role, you will lead the end‑to‑end creation of design packages that transform client facilities into high‑performance distribution hubs. Key Responsibilities – What Your Typical Day Looks Like
- Data Collaboration & Analysis: Partner with our Data Analytics team to dissect client order profiles, velocity trends, SKU affinities, and ABC classifications. Use these insights to inform storage media selection, product slotting, and overall facility configuration.
- Engineering Calculations & Documentation: Produce rigorous engineering calculations, capacity models, and detailed operating concepts (e.g., storage and shipping capacity, zoning, wave planning). Facilitate cross‑functional reviews with engineering peers, WMS implementation specialists, and operations leaders.
- Facility Layout & Flow Design: Craft comprehensive facility layouts that seamlessly integrate storage media, material handling equipment, and automation solutions. Ensure each design aligns with the client’s Concept of Operations and supports optimal material flow.
- Business Development Support: Assist the solutions team in responding to RFPs by developing compelling design materials, performing feasibility studies, and delivering persuasive presentations to prospective clients.
- Detailed Engineering Execution: Transform conceptual designs into fully detailed, AutoCAD‑based blueprints ready for implementation. Conduct data analyses, define material handling specifications, negotiate vendor quotes, and generate fit‑for‑purpose facility layouts.
- Client Gap Analysis & Planning Sessions: Lead joint planning workshops, identify scope changes, document issues, and drive timely escalations to keep projects on track.
- WMS Configuration & Integration: Prepare comprehensive WMS configuration documentation, defining locations, slotting rules, zoning, put‑away and picking sequences, and allocation logic. Identify new interface requirements and collaborate with IT teams on system design.
- Vendor Management & Commissioning: Oversee third‑party material handling and automation vendors through permitting, installation, commissioning, punch‑list resolution, and performance testing. Validate that all equipment meets design specifications and operational standards.

Essential Qualifications – Foundations for Success
