We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Counsel to join our team of legal professionals in defending lawsuits filed in California courts and other first-party insurance defense matters. Job Summary:
In this role, you will be responsible for researching laws and preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda, as well as rendering opinions on liability, damages, and value. You will also prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery, and defend cases by trial or dispositive hearing. Key Responsibilities:
- Research laws and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda
- Render opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department
- Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery
- Defend cases by trial or dispositive hearing
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives
Requirements:
- 2-6+ years of experience in litigation, preferably in insurance defense or personal injury
- Juris Doctor degree
- Admission to the California Bar
- Must be licensed in good standing to practice law in California
- Excellent communication, organization, and prioritization skills
- Ability to travel as required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Civil litigation experience
- Insurance defense-related litigation experience
- Strong technical and procedural knowledge
