Key Responsibilities
As a Special Education Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, your key responsibilities will include:
- Following and teaching lesson plans provided by the regular teacher
- Instructing based on subject and grade-specific curriculum
- Monitoring and assessing student achievements and outcomes
- Exercising classroom and behavior management skills
- Sharing your specialized knowledge to coach staff and support special education students
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Active Teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s)
- Substitute Authorization (must have or be in the process of obtaining if license is expired)
- Three References with one by a previous direct supervisor
- Complete a Background Check for Scoot Education (you'll be reimbursed for the cost on your first paycheck!)
- Complete a Background Check for the Colorado Department of Education (to receive your Substitute Authorization; you will not be reimbursed for the cost)
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications and skills are highly desirable:
- Experience working with students with special needs
- Knowledge of curriculum and instructional strategies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
