Role Purpose and Key Responsibilities
As a Customer Service Representative (Access Center) at blithequark, you will be responsible for answering a high volume of inbound calls for assigned practices, serving as a liaison between patients, healthcare facilities, physicians, and clinical staff to facilitate patient healthcare needs. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Navigating the electronic health record to obtain and validate historical information, capturing and documenting demographic and financial information, and maintaining accurate data entry while ensuring patient privacy and security as per HIPAA guidelines.
- Managing a high volume of incoming calls from patients, healthcare providers, and facilities, resolving issues related to scheduling appointments, refilling medications, obtaining insurance referrals, and addressing billing questions, among others.
- Leveraging critical thinking with speed and accuracy to identify the reason for the call and take appropriate action based on caller need and acuity, researching complex issues, and escalating to clinical staff when necessary.
- Scheduling patient visits based on complex provider preferences, verifying and updating insurance, checking insurance eligibility, and collecting and documenting demographics.
- Maintaining proficiency in insurance basics, MyChart, and appointment instructions, and documenting and sending messages to providers and clinical staff in the electronic health record for clinical-based needs.
- Communicating directly with providers (physicians) to relay pertinent clinical information during after-hours, and managing calls within established performance and customer service standards.
Essential and Preferred Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- 2-5 years of experience in customer service or a related field.
- The ability to type at a minimum speed of 35 wpm with 90% accuracy (typing test required).
- Residence within 1 hour of St. Louis, Missouri.
Preferred qualifications include experience working in a healthcare setting, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.

This is a part-time opportunity, with 20 hours per week, and a schedule that does not include weekends or holidays. The available shifts are:
- Monday 8a-4:30p, Tuesday-Thursday, Friday 9a-12p.
