Job Summary
The Assistant Merchandising Manager will play a critical role in driving sales growth, improving customer satisfaction, and developing a high-performing team. As a key member of our remote team, you will have the flexibility to work from home while collaborating with our team leaders and colleagues to achieve our business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and sustain an imaginative design for the store and merchandise display, ensuring a visually appealing and engaging shopping experience for our customers.
- Work closely with the Team Leader to achieve targets in revenue, purchase, and labor expenses, and provide regular progress updates and recommendations for improvement.
- Assist the Team Leader in evaluating sales, labor, and reports, and provide insights and recommendations for optimizing store performance.
- Show a deep understanding of product features and stay up-to-date with the latest products, ensuring that our customers receive expert advice and guidance.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, cultivate new vendor relationships, and ensure that all necessary paperwork is thoroughly prepared for vendor processing.
- Assist the Team Leader in resolving team-related concerns or issues using a collaborative approach, and provide coaching and mentoring to team members to improve their performance and engagement.
- Fulfill the duties of the Team Leader and assume the role of departmental head in their absence, ensuring seamless continuity of operations and customer service.
- Ensure adherence to the highest standards of retail execution, including visual merchandising, inventory management, and customer service.
- Uphold a congenial atmosphere of incredible teamwork, mutual respect, and outstanding motivation, and communicate and embody the company vision and objectives through consistent actions and behaviors.
- Remain aware of customer behavior and preferences, and provide instructions to the team to cater to their needs and wants, and respond quickly to customer concerns and inquiries.
- Select, instruct, grow, encourage, and guide team members to preserve a high-performing team while reducing the rate of attrition.
- Provide well-rounded, poignant, and prompt performance evaluations, and develop and implement plans to improve team performance and engagement.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:
- A minimum of 18 months of experience in the retail industry as a team member, and at least 6 months of experience in a team leadership or management role.
- A strong understanding of retail operations, including visual merchandising, inventory management, and customer service.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with team members, customers, and suppliers.
- A growth mindset, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, trends, and best practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team, with strong time management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are preferred but not essential:
- Experience in a merchandising or buying role, with a strong understanding of product features and trends.
- Knowledge of retail software applications, including point-of-sale systems and inventory management software.
- Experience in a leadership or management role, with a proven track record of improving team performance and engagement.
- Ability to speak multiple languages, with a strong understanding of diverse cultural and customer needs.
