Job Summary
A job with Target Packaging is a valuable opportunity to contribute to the development of packaging for Target's cherished owned brands, exclusive partners, and travel packaging. Your impact will drive sales and grow brand love through packaging that is visitor-driven, on-brand, competitive "at rack," and category-relevant. Here, you will leverage internal and external partnerships, collaborate on research and analysis to support packaging streamlining, establish best practices for scale, and back sustainability initiatives. As part of a global team, you will have the chance to collaborate with Target offices, product sellers, and packaging providers across the US, China, India, and other global regions. This role will support and influence all areas of Owned Brand business. Key Responsibilities
As a Lead Packaging Specialist, you will:
- Develop fundamental information requirements, scientific classification structures, and specific loyalty standards to support packaging plan streamlining and sustainability efforts across all Target-owned brands.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including purchasing, design, store operations, marketing, supply chain, properties, and compliance program owners, to establish relevant information requirements and adaptable guidelines that consistently reflect our commitment to safety, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and performance.
- Design and implement change cycles to ensure accurate packaging documentation management portfolios across multiple systems and partner groups.
- Create, develop, and execute innovative training and creative content consistently for internal and external audiences to drive extensive understanding of standards, details, and information precision best practices.
- Evaluate information requirements, standards, and details to promote safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions that align with industry standards, enhance good design practices, are consistent with risk management assumptions, and maintain a leadership position in the industry.
- Provide support and guidance to cross-functional teams and colleagues to ensure proper interpretation and implementation of packaging information requirements, standards, and details.
- Collaborate with relevant internal regulation and compliance authorities, identifying effects on current information requirements and standards, taking action to mitigate risks and recognize opportunities for compliance.
- Work with cross-functional global partners to drive effective communication and roadshows around stated objectives, compliance, and information precision best practice requirements and assumptions.
- Use data to identify patterns or issues, in conjunction with technology teams, to measure the effectiveness of training delivered and communications sent.
- Investigate industry trends and review Target's corresponding data and standards practices, share insights and recommendations with the relevant audience for change and compliance.
- Provide leadership and guidance to others, driving effectiveness and efficiency in team results.
- Maintain a positive team culture by exhibiting behaviors consistent with Target's values of Inclusivity, Connection, and Drive; ensure ongoing, effective communication to the team, and support individualized growth by offering regular performance feedback, coaching, recognition, and assessment.

About You
We're looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team. If you have:
- A 4-year degree or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of experience creating and managing documentation and guidelines projects, ideally including packaging design and development
- The ability to influence without authority, manage projects, work with teams, resolve conflicts, build consensus, and collaborate successfully, both internally and externally, across all levels of an organization
- Experience with documentation best practices, technical writing, and reporting
- The ability to create and advise on engaging, structured, and delivered training content, roadshows, and communications
- Experience driving teams or projects, driving collaboration, strengthening, and cooperation
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, creative thinking, and scientific skills
- Related knowledge with packaging or consumer products manufacturing
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Adaptability and resilience; open to working in uncertain and constantly changing conditions
- The ability to focus, manage multiple tasks, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- The ability to work, communicate, and lead in a highly collaborative environment
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), Visio applications
