The Medical Data Entry Associate will play a vital role in reviewing and verifying assigned codes, sequencing diagnosis and procedures, and abstracting accurate clinical information to obtain the most specific code possible. This position requires a strong understanding of coding and regulatory requirements, including ICD9CM, CPT, HCPCS, UHDDS, and HIPPA coding guidelines. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of coding and regulatory requirements, utilizing web-based tools and coding books, and participating in audits to capture lost charges and determine the accuracy of billing.
The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or its equivalent and a strong foundation in health information management and coding principles. While no experience is necessary, previous experience in a healthcare setting or related field is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and provide exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred candidates will have a strong understanding of coding and regulatory requirements, including ICD9CM, CPT, HCPCS, UHDDS, and HIPPA coding guidelines. Experience with web-based tools, coding books, and other available resources is highly desirable, as is the ability to utilize multiple information systems to accurately select the correct patient account.
