About the Role
The Literacy & Professional Learning Specialist will play a pivotal role in assisting the execution of the Academic Team’s strategy, ensuring all curriculum materials and resources meet the highest standards of quality, are aligned to standards, and cater to the diverse needs of students, teachers, and families. This position will also be instrumental in promoting and implementing our ELA curricula within school districts, contributing to the advancement of literacy education.
Reporting to the Sr. Director of ELA, the successful candidate will bring a deep understanding of secondary English Language Arts education, a passion for literacy, and experience in professional learning and curriculum development. Key Responsibilities
- Literacy & Curriculum: Assist in evaluating ELA instructional materials, identifying and creating resources to support curriculum implementation and professional learning, and revising materials to ensure accuracy and adherence to our high-quality standards.
- Professional Learning: Lead the development and delivery of professional learning for educators focused on literacy instruction and our curricula, collaborate with internal and external experts, and support partner school leaders through on-site visits and customized learning experiences.
- Project Management: Effectively manage multiple projects by creating timelines, organizing materials, prioritizing tasks, and meeting established deadlines, ensuring seamless execution of strategic initiatives.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Engage in collaborative efforts with various teams to support strategic initiatives related to the ELA portfolio, fostering a culture of teamwork and innovation.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of 5 years of classroom experience teaching secondary students English Language Arts.
- Experience in supporting secondary multilingual learners and facilitating professional learning for secondary English Language Arts educators.
- Deep knowledge of the educational landscape in secondary English Language Arts, including expertise in the teaching and learning of Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts.
- Demonstrated experience evaluating instructional materials using various review tools and rubrics.
- Proven organizational skills, high attention to detail, strong work ethic, and superior time management abilities.
- Dedication to excellence, with a proven track record of accountability and a growth mindset focused on collaboration and problem-solving.

- Experience in curriculum development and implementation.
- Strong technology skills, including proficiency in email, Google platform, MS Office 365, Adobe, and web conference tools.
