Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lactation Specialist to join our team on a full-time basis, working nights from the comfort of your own home. As a Lactation Specialist, you will provide direct patient care in a specialty unit, evaluating learning needs, and providing patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. With a focus on delivering high-quality care, you will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral, and spiritual and psychosocial support needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate learning needs of patients and families, providing education and support tailored to their unique needs and circumstances.
- Effectively delegate patient care to ancillary personnel, ensuring seamless delivery of care and maximizing available resources.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral, and spiritual and psychosocial support needs.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care based on patient assessment, optimizing outcomes and maximizing available resources.
- Monitor, document, and communicate patient condition as appropriate, ensuring timely and effective communication with the care team.
- Precept student nurses and new hires, sharing your expertise and contributing to the development of our future workforce.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- IBCLC certification (preferred) or a strong foundation in lactation care.
- A degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- A current Registered Nurse License in the state of Florida.
- At least one year of nursing experience, with a focus on lactation care or a related specialty.
- Strong critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action to ensure patient safety and well-being.
