About the Role: IT SOX Consultant
As an IT SOX Consultant on our Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing policies, processes, people, and systems that support internal controls over financial reporting. Your expertise in translating SOX compliance requirements into internal control guidance will be instrumental in enforcing a strong control environment across our organization. Key Responsibilities:
- Assess the quality of management's IT SOX control testing and provide constructive feedback to strengthen control design and operating effectiveness.
- Develop and deliver training programs to business and IT stakeholders on IT SOX control requirements, promoting a culture of compliance and risk awareness.
- Perform system scoping activities, identify control efficiency opportunities, and advise on remediating control gaps, leveraging your understanding of business process and IT-related risks and controls.
- Facilitate communication between external auditors and control owners to ensure a clear understanding of audit requests, risk areas, and control sufficiency.
- Execute on time-sensitive issues, bringing them to appropriate conclusions and demonstrating your ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Build and maintain relationships with business and IT leaders, external auditors, and other Verizon compliance teams, fostering trust and collaboration across the organization.
Essential Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Math, or Information Systems, or four or more years of relevant work experience.
- Four or more years of experience in a related field, with a strong foundation in IT SOX control guidance and enterprise risk management.
- Experience with GRC tools and auditing principles and methods to evaluate policies, processes, and systems and identify risks and control gaps.
- Project management experience, with the ability to juggle competing priorities, adapt to changing circumstances, and combine a sense of urgency with due care and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
While not required, the following qualifications will be considered an asset:
- Public accounting IT audit experience, with a deep understanding of SOX ITGCs and SOC 1 reviews.
- A relevant professional certification, such as CISA, CPA, CIA, or CFE, demonstrating your expertise and commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
- Experience in applying technical internal controls or audit knowledge in areas such as System Development Lifecycle procedures, emerging technology areas like robotic process automation, business intelligence and analytics tools, Blockchain, and Cloud.
- Telecommunications experience, with a understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in the industry.
- Experience driving complex solutions and analytics to provide ongoing and automated monitoring of key risks, with a focus on innovation and process improvement.
