Job Description
As a Lead Data Engineer at Blithequark, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing large-scale data solutions that meet the needs of our business stakeholders. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and product managers, to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and development of data products and data warehouses focused on engagement, retention analysis, and data science.
- Design and develop scalable data warehousing solutions, building ETL pipelines in large data environments (cloud, on-prem, hybrid).
- Help engineer data solutions/structures and define data models for the core data warehouse and data shops.
- Collaborate with data product managers, data modelers, and data architects to design, implement, and deliver successful data solutions.
- Maintain detailed documentation of your work and changes to support data quality and data governance.
- Ensure high operational efficiency and quality of your solutions to meet SLAs and support obligations to our clients (Data Science, Data Analysis teams).
- Be an active participant and contributor to agile/scrum practices to ensure safety and process improvements for your team.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong SQL skills and ability to write queries to extract data and build performant datasets.
- Hands-on experience with distributed systems like Hadoop (HDFS, Hive, Voila, PySpark) to query and process data.
- Strong programming skills in Python, Java/Scala.
- Experience with at least one major MPP or cloud database technology (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
- Strong experience with data integration toolsets (i.e., Windstream) and writing and maintaining data pipelines.
- Solid understanding of data modeling techniques and data warehousing standard methods and practices.
- Familiarity with Scrum and Agile methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud technologies like AWS (S3, EMR, EC2).
- Knowledge of data science and machine learning concepts.
- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js.
