About the Role
We're seeking a talented and experienced Distributed Systems Engineer to join our Data Platform team. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable, secure, and highly available distributed systems that meet the needs of our business. You'll work closely with our engineering teams to architect and implement solutions that drive business outcomes, and collaborate with our data scientists to develop and deploy data-driven applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available distributed systems that meet the needs of our business
- Collaborate with engineering teams to architect and implement solutions that drive business outcomes
- Work closely with data scientists to develop and deploy data-driven applications
- Develop and maintain high-quality, well-documented code that meets our coding standards
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of our codebase
- Collaborate with our data engineering team to design and implement data pipelines and workflows
- Develop and maintain our data platform's infrastructure, including our data warehouse, data lake, and data processing systems
- Work with our data science team to develop and deploy machine learning models and algorithms
- Participate in the development and maintenance of our data platform's documentation and knowledge base
Essential Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in building large-scale distributed systems or applications
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, including design patterns, scalability, and fault tolerance
- Experience with Java or other object-oriented programming languages
- Strong understanding of data processing and storage systems, including Hadoop, Spark, and NoSQL databases
- Experience with cloud-based platforms, including AWS or GCP
- Strong understanding of data modeling and data warehousing concepts
- Experience with data science tools and technologies, including Python, R, and SQL
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Netflix's data platform and tools, including our data warehouse, data lake, and data processing systems
- Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence, including model development and deployment
- Experience with containerization and orchestration, including Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms, including AWS Lake Formation and GCP BigQuery
- Experience with data governance and data quality, including data lineage and data validation
