The Operations Technology Solutions (OTS) Data Team is seeking a skilled data architect to join their team, working remotely from Massachusetts, USA. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and communication skills to design and implement data architectures that meet the needs of Amazon's global customers.
Job Summary
As a data architect on the OTS Data Team, you will be responsible for developing blueprints for data control structures, integrating data sources, and designing data governance frameworks. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions, applications, and system designs. This role requires a strong understanding of data modeling, data integration, data security, and data governance concepts, as well as experience with data manipulation and visualization tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and assist in the design of end-to-end data solutions, including data structure, data integration, data modeling, security, privacy, regulatory, performance, data governance, business intelligence, etc., and ensure alignment to the company's overall business needs.
- Provide technical oversight and guidance on data infrastructure, including data warehousing, data streaming, and data virtualization.
- Participate in and lead discovery sessions with primary business stakeholders to gather data on business objectives, challenges, and requirements.
- Present proposed solutions to technical forums during evaluation sessions, as well as articulate and communicate designs to stakeholder groups.
- Support solution delivery by providing insights to software development teams and project managers that plan and execute delivery activities.
- Support implementation methodologies in conjunction with internal and external development teams. Participate in project-related activities.
- Support the achievement of high-quality solutions and their adherence to technology standards, requirements, and best practices.
- Help create solution architecture documents that describe and explain solution attributes and related benefits.
- Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies applicable to supporting data solutions for customers.
- Support the identification of opportunities for continuous development of solution management methodologies, including gathering feedback after the solution has been delivered.
- Assist in the identification and recommendation of suitable solutions, upgrades, replacements, or decommissioning alternatives incorporating business and technology productivity, usability, and overall cost of ownership.

Basic Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Bachelor's degree in Data Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of proven experience in the design and implementation of current data architectures to support large-scale data solutions.
- Expert knowledge of data styles to support architectures and data control ideas/methods, including ETL/ELT, Data Mesh, data lake, data lakehouse, data warehouse, data streaming, data virtualization, etc.
- Strong knowledge of data modeling (dimensional, data vault, etc.) concepts and strategies based on established methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of ETL tools, including Informatica, SSIS, Talend, DataStage, etc., as well as requirements and best practices for ETL development frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of data governance framework concepts and vendor structures.
- Experience with data manipulation and visualization tools, including Tableau, Power BI, etc.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and proven ability to use SQL to a wide range of business needs.
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing ideas and data structures and architecture.
- Proficient in building secure structures using: Encryption, Access control, Network security, and Advanced data security.
- Knowledge of MDM ideas and solutions.
- Demonstrated experience deploying data solutions in Big Data environments.
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary, distributed, and collaborative environments.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- MBA, MS, or MA in Data Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Related expert certifications and/or education are considered an asset.
- Exceptional innovative reasoning and design abilities to perform responsibilities and tasks efficiently.
