About the Role: Field-Based Peer Support Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Field-Based Peer Support Specialist to join our team in Newark, New Jersey. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting consumers and families in their recovery journeys, utilizing your own lived experience and training to empower them with the skills and knowledge necessary for achieving their recovery goals. Key Responsibilities

Utilize your personal recovery experience and training to assist families and consumers in defining their recovery goals and developing the necessary skills and knowledge for recovery.
Collaborate with the clinical team to implement care coordination, including peer support and other community-based services designed to stabilize the consumer's condition.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with consumer- and family-run services and programs, facilitating access to and transition between services.
Communicate effectively with consumers, families, and providers about all aspects of the mental healthcare delivery system, including clinical policies, data analysis, and program evaluation.
Identify and outreach to community leaders and ethnic minority groups to develop culturally competent programs that utilize recovery and resiliency principles.
Participate in quality review processes, treatment planning, and advocacy efforts on behalf of consumers and families.
Provide direct support to consumers and family members, including facilitating training events, supporting grievance processes, and connecting them with community resources.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED or higher, or 4 years of case management experience.
Active and current Peer Recovery Specialist or Peer Support Specialist certification in the state of New Jersey, or the ability to obtain certification within 12 months of employment.
1 year of experience working with community resources, Medicaid population, and demonstrated understanding of recovery and resiliency principles.
Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and the ability to access multiple web applications.
Residence within a commutable distance to Newark, NJ, and surrounding communities, with a current and non-restricted New Jersey driver's license, state-required insurance, and reliable transportation.
Access to a designated quiet workspace in your home, with the ability to secure Protected Health Information (PHI) and a UnitedHealth Group-approved high-speed internet connection.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

Completion of the Stanford Chronic Disease Self-Management Program.
Completion of Whole Health Action Management Training.
Ability to facilitate training events.
