Job Overview

The Data Entry Specialist role is a part-time position within our Data and Analysis team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy of sports data on our platforms. This includes scores, schedules, standings, rankings, and other relevant information. As a Data Entry Specialist, you will work with digital data feeds and utilize manual data entry to guarantee the delivery of accurate, timely, and engaging sports information. Key Responsibilities

• Guarantee sports data distributed by our team is accurate, timely, and engaging
• Work in individual settings and in groups to deliver accurate detailed breakdown, clock-and-score, and different measurements and data in real-time that power our products and creations
• Create and maintain a working knowledge of our team's role in fueling blithequark's digital products and television creations
• Check the results of one's own work and that of others; perform with a consistently high level of attention to detail
• Contribute to production, projects, and initiatives across the newsroom, and support newsroom leaders who are coordinating full-and part-time staff
• Anticipate potential issues, both daily and long-term, and propose likely solutions; communicate rapidly and clearly with stakeholders on these issues
• Play a proactive role in working with stakeholders in developing or refining production processes
• Be an active participant in team and department meetings
• Seek and respond to feedback regarding individual performance
• Stay informed regarding current office policies and procedures

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Working knowledge of teams, players, and the rules of the games
• Full schedule availability, which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to quickly learn production processes that produce or maintain sports data that powers blithequark's digital and television products
• Ability to achieve a high level of content accuracy in time-sensitive production circumstances
• Ability to communicate confidently – verbally and in writing – to production managers and peers about production issues and opportunities, often through the noise of a busy newsroom

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

• 1+ years of experience working in sports or statistics, ideally in media
• Knowledge of how sports data is used in media and for research purposes
• Working knowledge of blithequark products and creations
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Office products
• Experience leading or mentoring a team
• Ability to speak and write Spanish
• Experience using social media in a business or news environment

Education

The minimum education required for this role is a high school diploma or equivalent. A college degree or equivalent is preferred.
