Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate 988 Chat/Text Crisis Specialist to join our team on a part-time basis, working the 3rd shift from Friday to Sunday (6pm-2:30am CST). As a remote position, you will be part of a 24/7/365 mental health crisis/suicide prevention team, providing critical support to individuals in need. Key Responsibilities
- Provide telephonic or chat clinical screenings and risk assessments to individuals contacting the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL) via the 988 platform.
- Answer crisis contacts via the chat/text platform to assess for suicide, safety, and identify appropriate community resources to meet individual needs.
- Conduct follow-up calls for individuals deemed moderate to high risk for suicide, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Meet the ethical and clinical standards in compliance with all accreditation requirements.
- Actively participate in ongoing supervision, training, and team meetings to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Assist in administrative tasks as needed to support the team's operations.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in behavioral science, psychology, social work, or a related field, or be a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist.
- Six months to one year of related crisis experience, preferably in a mental health or suicide prevention setting.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals in crisis via chat, text, or phone.
- Demonstrated knowledge and competency in providing service linkage and referrals for programs, services, and community resources.
- Understanding of suicide assessments and crisis intervention techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are desirable:
- Experience working in a remote or virtual environment, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL) and the 988 platform.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and practices.
- Certification in crisis intervention, such as Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) or similar.
