Job Summary
We're looking for a seasoned Chief Architect to lead the design and development of our fintech and loyalty platform, which includes payment processing, loyalty programs, and fraud detection. As a technical lead, you'll play a critical role in shaping the technical vision and strategy for our platform, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving the development of scalable, cloud-based solutions. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on our business and drive growth through innovative technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the technical lead in the fintech and loyalty space, designing and building a platform that interfaces with various systems inside and outside Wayfair and partners globally.
- Develop and drive a long-term innovation strategy for Wayfair's fintech and loyalty ecosystem, aligning with business objectives and customer needs.
- Design, develop, and review code to implement high-grade, adaptable, and future-proof services that meet scalability and performance requirements.
- Lead technical discussions across the platform and help reach strong, recorded resolutions.
- Drive high-impact architectural solutions and active development, including conception, design, implementation, and delivery following best practices.
- Focus on production readiness for the team, including testing, monitoring, deployment, documentation, and proactive troubleshooting.
- Identify risks and gaps in technical approaches and propose solutions to meet the division's technical vision.
- Influence and contribute to the division's strategy and guide the development of other engineers through mentoring, coaching, and creating opportunities for education.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software architecture, development, and technical leadership, preferably in the fintech or e-commerce industry.
- Strong expertise in cloud-native technologies (GCP, AWS, Azure) and scalable architecture design.
- Experience with payment processing, loyalty programs, and fraud detection systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and lead technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with e-commerce or client-facing technology on high-traffic sites.
- Knowledge of distributed systems, data-driven technologies, and cloud-based solutions.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
- Experience with mentoring, coaching, and developing other engineers.
