Job Summary As a key member of the Corporate Legal team, you will serve as a trusted privacy advisor to business partners across the organization. In this role, you’ll provide practical, risk‑based counsel on privacy, data protection, artificial intelligence and information governance issues that arise across products, operations, and strategic initiatives. You will work closely with stakeholders to enable responsible data use while ensuring compliance with applicable privacy laws and regulations. In addition, you will have opportunities to develop and grow your professional acumen by working with more experienced attorneys to provide legal advice to our internal partners from various areas across the organization, including Corporate Finance, IT, the Corporate Secretary, Tax, and Corporate Development. This role blends legal analysis, business judgment, and collaboration to support innovation and protect the company and its customers. Key Responsibilities: • Advise business partners on privacy and data protection matters, including the collection, use, sharing, retention, and security of personal information. • Conduct risk assessments related to privacy incidents and data security events and recommend remediation and notification actions. • Provide legal guidance on new technologies, products, and processes that impact company data, with a focus on risk mitigation and compliance. • Draft, review, and negotiate privacy‑related provisions in commercial contracts and vendor agreements. • Monitor, research, and advise on legal and regulatory developments affecting privacy and data protection, particularly in the insurance and financial services sectors. • Partner with cross‑functional teams (including compliance, security, IT, and product) to develop and improve privacy workflows, policies, and processes. • Support legislative and regulatory engagement efforts related to privacy in coordination with government relations and trade associations. • Engage and manage outside counsel or alternative legal service providers to deliver high‑quality, cost‑effective legal services. Skills and Background You’ll Need: Education: Juris Doctor (JD) and active bar membership required Certification: CIPP/US (preferred) Experience: • 3+ years of relevant experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate transactions and/or complex commercial contract negotiation with a combination of in-house and private firm experience. (Insurance/financial services experience highly preferred) • Demonstrated experience advising on privacy laws applicable to insurance and financial services (GLBA, HIPAA, CCPA) and associated privacy/compliance requirements. • Hands-on experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating data protection agreements, including DPAs and BAAs as well as contracts and other associated privacy documentation. • Experience working with and advising global capability centers.
